VENETA - A memorial service will be held for Alva "Al" Crenshaw of Veneta, who died April 7 of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was 83.
Crenshaw was born June 19, 1921, in Parnell, Mo. He lived in Veneta since 1964.
He married Jeanette Lackey in Torrington, Wyo., in 1944. She died Jan. 17, 1999. Crenshaw worked for Georgia Pacific and the University of Oregon.
Crenshaw enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping. He was a camp host at the Willamette National Forest and a member of the Church of the Open Bible.
Survivors include three son, Morris "Butch" of Cottage Grove, Jerry of Veneta and Roger of North Bend; a brother, Curtis of Parnell; a sister, May Hibbs of Arlington, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.
Tuesday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Olivett Baptist Church in Veneta.
West Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Alva married Jeanette Irene Lackey, daughter of George Morris Lackey and Anna Elizabeth Straw, in 1944 in Torrington, Wyoming. (Jeanette Irene Lackey was born on 31 Mar 1927 in Torrington, Goshen County, Wyoming and died on 17 Jan 1999 in Lane County, Oregon.)
