"Hon.Daniel R. Hastings, a distinguished member of the Oxford County Bar, and widely known throughout the state, died at his residence in Fryeburg, Maine, January 13, 1896, aged 72y 4m 19d. He was the son of John and Abigail Straw Hastings of Bethel and was a graduate of Bowdoin College, and of the famous class of 1844 having among his classmates Judge William Wirt Virgin, Judge Charles W. Goddard and General Samuel J. Anderson of Portland, the Honorable Horatio G. Herrick of Lawrence, Mass, the Honorable Josiah I Pickard LLD of Iowa and the Reverand George M. Adams D.D. of Auburndale, Mass."
