Research of June Huston Chase -"In 1928 Mabel's mother wrote to one of Charles' sisters, Kate, saying Mabel was dying of cancer and Charles was having mental problems and was hospitalized. The Dr. said it was softening of the brain.He must have gotten better as he lived a long time after that."
