Anita Burpee, 81, formerly of 211 Pattee Hill Road, died March 11, 2006, after a period of declining health. She was born in Machias, Maine, to Raymond C. and Mildred (Bisbee) Mass. She was a graduate of Hamilton (Mass.) High School, Class of 1942, and Westbrook College, Class of 1944. Mrs. Burpee was raised in Hanover, Mass., and resided in Goffstown for more than 50 years. She was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy WAVES. Mrs. Burpee was a member of Goffstown Historical Society, Goffstown Mothers Club and Goffstown Congregational Church, where she was a choir member. She volunteered for March of Dimes, Girl Scouts and served as a tennis coach with Goffstown High School. Mrs. Burpee was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Chandler Burpee Jr. Family members include three daughters, Carol B. Manning of Manchester, Ann S. Burpee of Bedford, Texas, and Elizabeth B. Straw of Weare; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Cox of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to The Loon Center, P.O. Box 604, Moultonborough, NH 03254. French and Rising Funeral Home in Goffstown handled the arrangements.

Anita married Chandler Burpee. (Chandler Burpee was born circa 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died on 24 Jan 2005 in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.)
