Glenn M. De Vore, ex Fesno Mayor dies suddenly
Glenn M. De Vore, 63, a former mayor, city comissioner, District Attorney and former local labor leader, died of a ehart attack yesterday at 3 pm in his home at 1280 Del Mar Ave. He was a candidate for Superior Court Judge in Dept #3 in the coming election.. He ahd been under treatment for an abdominal condition but his physician had not considered him critically ill. De Vore was appointed Mayor of Fresno May 12, 1947 after the death of Mayor Z. S. Leymel and served until he was succeeded by Mayor Gordon G. Dunn in April 1949. He had just completed his fourth term as a city comissioner when the appointment was made......after his term as Mayor he returned to his former association with Wm B. Johnston in the practice of law and on Mar 3rd filed his declaration of intention to be a candidate for judge. Served as DA of Fresno County from 1927 to 1935...practiced law here for 30 yrs. De Vore, beloved husband of Eva De Vore of Fresno; father of Mrs. Virginia Brownton of San Jose; son of Mrs Ada Jones of Fresno; grandfather of Glenn Brownton and Marilyn Brownton, both of San Jose. A native of Cochranton, PA, aged 63 years.Funeral services will be held in the Tinker Mission Chapel Friday morning April 21, 1950 at 10:30 o'clock. Rev John H. Gregg officiating. Private internment in Belmont Memorial Park
