General Notes:
Research of James W. Straw - Johnny had Dyptheria as a child. He lost two sisters at about the same time. The illness caused him to go deaf. He had TB of the bone in one leg and had a wooden leg. He did learn to drive car. He lived about 1.5 miles from town and was the last survivor on his dad's farm. He lived in the family two story home with a hired hand until the house burned down. He then lived in the wash house - a 12 x 15 one story building with a stove until they died. Johnny had a sister Sylvia with Parkinsons and was very over weight. She had 3 boys and one girl. Rosyland was her married name. Johnny had a sister Mammy who worked in a bank. A very jolly person and enjoyed social clubs. Younger brother Lawrence was quite handsome and married with one child.
