"born in the Idle of Man...16 July 1826...died Liberty township, Holt Co, MO 30 oct 1897..maried Miss Catherine Callow 23 Aug 1848
... 13 children and 12 living..at his funeral in 1897 all present but one...June1870 he removed with his family to America and settled in Holt Co. Missouri. In 1872 he bought a farm in New Liberty township where he has since resided...honored and respected by all. He began preaching the gospel in the Primitive Methodist church of England before he reached the age of 21 and continued to break the bread of life where opportunity afforded thru his long life until infirmity caused him to desist. when coming first to this country he united with the Protestant church and was an honored member of the same. Wm Kennish was a man of a retiring disposition, upright in all his dealings, a man of solid worth. the community was richer by his living in it. Every good cause had a champion and friend in him. All his life he had been an ardent worker in the temperance cause. As a preacher he was a good reasoner, logical and clear. In early days he supplied the needs of the church gratuitously. His funeral was conducted by Rev. A. J. Brock, assisted by the Rev. H. J. Doanldson, his pastor. He was buried in the New Liberty Cemetery beside his wife, who had preceded him but one month."
