Moses emigrated from Maine to southern California about 1870 and settled at San Bernardino, driving a stage and then engaging in a stage and livery business. Later he was a partner in owning the Southern Hotel. He is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery at San Bernardino. -obituary, San Bernardino Daily, 14 Aug 1915. He served in the Board of City Trustees and was its chair. -"History of San Bernardino County, 1769-1904. Julia Hazel Kenniston remembers the family story that "Uncle Moses" and Joseph had both been in love with the beautiful Susan Foster, and when Joseph won her hand Moses left for the West. Moses married Julia Fullsom, a teacher from Vermont; they had no children.
