Thompson H. Fries died at the Fairfax Community hospital, Sunday evening, where he had been a patient for over three months. The 73 year old retired farmer had spent most of his life in the Fairfax community.
Thompson Henry Fries was born Feb. 7, 1888 and died June 4, 1961 at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 17 days. On December 11, 1911 he married Basha Mayhugh of Fairfax and they established their home on a farm near here. To them were born six children, the oldest, a son died in infancy. Five daughters survive, they are: Mrs. James McGowan, Kansas City; Mrs. Dale Strough, Parkville; Mrs. Carl Coats, Muncie, Kansas; Mrs. B.W. Umbrage and Mrs. Neil Cury, Fairfax.
Besides the wife of the home, he is also survived by two brothers, Elmer Fries, Oregon; and Harry Fries, Mound City; four half-brothers: Ribert Fries of Kansas City, Albert Fries, Kansas City, Kans; Russel Fries, Denver, Col.; Ernest Fries, Fairfax; five half sisters: Mrs. Grace Fulton, Overland Park, Kansas; Mrs. Hazel Criley, Kansas City; Mrs. Pauline King, St Joseph; Mrs. Minnie Boone and Miss Rosa Fries, Fairfax and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 6, at the Fairfax Baptist Church with the Rev. Mansel Campbell, in charge. Interment was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetary. Pall bearers were: Lewis Vaught, George Carter, Williams Graves, Ray Patterson, Walter Umbarger, Albert Kelly.
