He acquired a grammar and high school education at
Vinton,OH, and as a young man entered railroad service.
He was operator and station agent at Vinton for a period
of 11 years. In 1913, he entered the Bank of Vinton
as cashier, and is now also now director (1912). As a
banker he had charge of all the financial campaigns for
the support of the government in WWI. (from History of
