"Virgil Legan age 68 found dead of a heart attack in the barn lot near his home southwest of Leonard last Wed evening. He had gone out to do his chores and when he did not return his wife became alarmed and went to look for him. A doctor was called and Mr. Legan was pronounced dead on arrival.
Born in Springfield Mr Legan had moved to the Leonard vicinity last March . He is survived by his wife the former Oma Reid. His body was returned to Springfield for interment.
Virgil married Mabel Florence Straw, daughter of General William Jackson Straw and Elizabeth Jane Kettner, on 9 Sep 1912 in Wellington, Kansas. (Mabel Florence Straw was born on 31 Mar 1891 in Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa, died on 5 Apr 1984 in Viaslia, Tulare County, California and was buried in Clovis Cemetery in Fresno County, California.)
Virgil next married Oma Reed before 1932. (Oma Reed was born in 1904 in Missouri and died on 4 Feb 1974 in Caldwell, Noble County, Ohio.)
