He may have died before 1850 as son Hiram is living with another family in Campton, Grafton, NH and is age 17.....also Martha has remarried. i also believe he is living with his mother and stepfather in Campton with his stepgrandfather's household.....
found a Charles Edwin Gilman born 12 Feb 1808 in Exeter, NH who died at sea Jan 1840. His headstone says he died at Amboynia, C. I. [Borneo?] Fam Tree states: Sea, Sulawesi Tengah, Indonesia. Can't find a marraige record of his marriage to Martha.
Charles married Martha W. Straw, daughter of William Straw and Martha Sargent, before 1834. (Martha W. Straw was born in Apr 1805 in Sandwich, Carroll County, New Hampshire, USA, died on 19 Mar 1879 in Weare, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire and was buried in Blair Cemetery in Campton, Grafton County, New Hampshire.). The cause of her death was paralysis.
