I am a descendant of Solomon Goss and Olive Scott who were early settlers to Washington County. I believe they came to the area about 1796. I would appreciate hearing from other Goss descendants and from anyone who has documentation, information, or source material/publications on Solomon and Olive Goss as I would like to document them as being early Ohio settlers. Here's info on them. family. Please note I descend from their daughter, Lydia:
Solomon GOSS was born on 16 Jun 1754 in Granville, Hampden, Massachusetts. He was christened on 1 Jul 1825. He died in Apr 1828 in Fearing Twp. Washington, Ohio.
He was married to Olive SCOTT (daughter of Obadiah SCOTT and Hannah HOWE) on 25 Jun 1776 in Plymouth, Pennsylvania. Olive SCOTT was born on 23 Sep 1757 in Waterbury Twp. New Haven, Conn. She died on 4 Jul 1825 in Probably Washington County, Ohio. Solomon GOSS and Olive SCOTT had the following children:
i. Elizabeth GOSS was born on 9 Dec 1777 in Washington County, Ohio. She died on 20 Apr 1845.
ii. Noah GOSS was born on 24 Jun 1782 in Washington County, Ohio.
iii. Mary GOSS was born on 4 Mar 1785 in Washington County, Ohio.
iv. Solomon GOSS was born on 5 May 1788 in Washington County, Ohio. He died on 2 Nov 1864 in Probably Iowa.
v. Daniel GOSS was born on 23 Sep 1790 in Washington County, Ohio. He died on 18 Nov 1868 in Probably Washington County, Ohio. He was buried in Ohio Rockland Cemetery, Belpre, Washington, Ohio.
vi. Levi GOSS was born on 22 Nov 1793 in Marietta, Washington, Ohio.
vii. Lydia Mary GOSS.
viii. David GOSS was born on 15 Jan 1799 in Marietta, Washington, Ohio.

Daniel married Lydia Ackley on 13 Aug 1813 in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio. (Lydia Ackley was born in 1796 in Connecticut.)
