"I do not have proof as to who Samuel and Eliza's parents are, BUT I believe Samuel was the son of Ezra and Hulda (Straw) Wormwood. I cannot place Ezra ever in Waterbury, I have done a lot studing on this family. And there were 3 Wormwood men who went to Vermont. Joseph in Groton, Daniel in Ryegate, and Ezra, who pops up in 1840, 1850 and 1860 censuses in Charlotte. And where William and Fidelia had 2 of Samuel's children in 1850, and where William is a known child of Ezra...I concluded that Sam may be a child of Ezra too.....
Samuel and Eliza [Godfrey] were the parents of six children:
1. William O. Wormwood, born January 1829 in Waterbury, VT.; died November 27, 1910 in Rockford, IL. He married Jeanette Forbes in Rockford, IL and had 2 children.
2. Orlando Wormwood, born May 1832 in Waterbury, VT; died February 25, 1911 in Sullivan, IL. He married Harriet in VT and had 3 children.
3. Mary Ann Wormwood, born 13 Oct 1835 in Waterbury, VT. She married (#1) Webster D. Huse March 9, 1854 in Waterbury, VT. He was born September 25, 1828 in VT; died October 24, 1864 in Andersonville, GA. (Together they had 3 children Frederick B. 1859, Jennie M. 1861 and Kate I. 1863). She married (#2) Dennison Currier June 5, 1878 in Malden, MA. (She is buried in the Huse plot in Enfield, NH)
4. Luciann Rosalie (aka Lucy and aka Rose) Wormwood, born 1838 in Waterbury, VT. She married #1 Charles W. Hagedon November 26, 1859 in Stephenson Co., IL. She married #2 Erasmus D. Lacy July 2, 1864.
5. Charles C. Wormwood, born 1843 in Waterbury, VT.; died June 22, 1902 in Chicago, IL. He married and divorced "Dell" and had 2 children, and married Almeda (Coffin) Nutter, no children.
6. Julia D. Wormwood, born 1848 in Waterbury, VT; died November 15, 1929 in Rockford, IL. She never married. She was a teacher.
I believe Samuel died between 1848 and 1850, as he does not appear in the censuses. Son, Orlando is in the home of Salmon Godfrey in Enfield, NH. Mary and Luciann are in the home of William and Fedelia (Murray) Wormwood. Uncles? (I know Willlam was the son of Ezra Wormwood, per death certificate). The rest of the family is missing from the 1850 census. They all pop up in the 1860 census (except Mary Ann) in Rockford, IL."
