SOUTH DENNIS, Mass. - Lillian Coverdale Straw of South Dennis and, formerly of Lewes, Del., died peacefully Monday, June 13, 2005, in Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center, South Dennis, where she had lived for 15 months. She was 97.
Mrs. Straw was born Jan. 19, 1908, in Lewes, daughter of the late George and Clara Coverdale.
She graduated from Lewes High School in 1925.
Mrs. Straw, for the next 17 years, worked for the Sussex Trust Co., in various departments. After marrying in 1944, she and her husband moved to Gaithersburg, Md., where they had an antique shop, and later to Bethesda, Md., where she served 13 years as an administrative assistant with the National Institutes of Health. They retired in 1967 and bought a home in South Dennis on Cape Cod, where they spent the rest of their lives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. "Bob" Straw, originally of Chevy Chase, Md., in 1986; and two sisters, Marion C. Graves and Helena C. Macintire, both of whom had lived in Lewes.
She is survived by a sister, C. Emily Burton of Lewes; four nieces; and three nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes, at which time the cremains of both Lillian and Bob will be interred.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Northside United Methodist Church Building Fund, 701 Airline Road, Brewster, MA 02631.

Lillian married Robert Campbell Straw, son of Franklin Crosby Straw and Harriet Clinton Campbell, on 7 Sep 1944 in Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware. (Robert Campbell Straw was born on 2 Sep 1902 in Wisconsin Dells, Columbia County, Wisconsin, died in 1986 and was buried in Bethel Methodist Cemetery - Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware.)
