Mrs. Straw, wife of the late U.S. Army, Ret., died on March 18, 2006. Born in Bordentown, NJ, on November 15, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Myron George Field and Florence Broome Field. She graduated from Rider College and worked at Joseph Stokes Rubber Company until the end of WWII, when she moved to Indiana with her husband. After the retirement of her husband from the U.S. Army, she returned to Indiana where she lived for 22 years. She moved to South Carolina in 1984 after her husband's permanent retirement.
She is survived by three children, three grandsons, three step-grandsons, two great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Straw was a homemaker who was active in her community, was a member of Sandborn Baptist Church for 22 years and a member of Pisgah Lutheran Church for 22 years, where she was active in the Golden Hearts, Busy Bees, Adult Sunday School class, and was the church treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Round Hill Community Center and helped deliver Meals on Wheels.
She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Major Raymond K. Straw, Jr., US Army, Ret., and granddaughter Jennifer Christine Shorter.
The family extends their thanks to Kay and Shay at Tri-County Hospice for their attentive care and compassion.
