WINSTON-SALEM -- Mrs. Elizabeth Coe Straw, 73, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 10, 1929 in Chefoo, China to Douglas Witmer and Josephine Schmitz Coe. She was of the Presbyterian faith. She loved reading and writing. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years Robert Eldred Straw, three children Douglas E., Robert D. and Julia A. Straw.
Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor E. Higgins and husband Howard of Glen Burney, MD, Shirley A. Straw of Winston-Salem; two sons, David R. Straw IV and wife Debra of Louisburg, NC and John H. Straw and wife Gloria of Middlesex, NC; six grandchildren; and one sister, Josephine D. Cromwell of Annapolis, MD, survive Mrs. Straw.
A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Zebulon, NC with Bill Teague officiating.
Elizabeth married Robert Eldred Straw, son of Eldred Ray Straw and Georgia Eleanor Boone, on 21 Dec 1949. (Robert Eldred Straw was born on 14 May 1927 in Maryland, died on 30 Sep 1989 in Raleigh, Wake county, North Carolina and was buried in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon, Wake County, North Carolina.)
