trying to find information on the following family:
Charles (no dates or places; but most likely mid 1700's and Vermont)
Charles' son: Thomas (no dates or places; but most likely late 1700;s and Vermont)Married Janet McCallum.
Thomas' son: Robert (no dates or places; but most likely abt 1800 and Vermont) married Martha George.
Robert's daughter: Eliza Jane (no names or dates, most likely early 1800's and Vermont) married James George Divoll/Divol from Vermont.
Eliza's son: Alberto Mellin Divoll born 9/1/1855 in Black River Falls, Vermont.

Robert's wife Martha George and James George Divoll's mother Judith George are not known to be related, but might be. Martha's parents are James George and Lydia Jones. also anyone have anything on the family with this spelling? My great grandfather was Alberto Millen Divoll, born in Black River Falls, Vermont in 1855. He moved to California when a baby, lived in Sonora County. Was in Wisconsin as a young man long enough to meet and marry my great grandmother, Minnie Eliza Rice in 1880. Alberto's parents were: James George Divoll (b Woodbury, Vermont; no date) and Eliza Jane Millen (Mellin), (Mellen). James Divoll's parents were George Washington Divoll (b Vermont) and Judith George. Any information on this family would be appreciated. Molly

1860 - I am unable to locate this family but Judith died in 1859 and is buried in Jackson County, Wisconsin. George not in Jackson County in this census

1870 Tuolumna County. CA
George b. 1800 who lives with son James in California for a while and works as a miner

1880 Randolph, Cattaraugus County, NY
George Devall b. 1801 VT; civil engineer; father b. CT; mother b. VT
M. Louise Devall b. 1833 NY; author and writer- keeping house; wife

  Research Notes:

I do not know what happened to Eliza Jane Mellen...still researching. I also do not know James' parents but believe he descended off the Asa Divoll lines as they were all in Topsham, VT from 1800 on where all of Asa's children were born between 1800 and 1820. Asa died in 1830 so he is not the father but the probable grandfather. Asa had 9 sons and any of them could be the father: George b. 1800 who lives with James in California for awhile and works as a miner; Josiah b. 1807 had no known sons named James and in 1840 was living in Topsham but had 2 sons born between 1835-1840 and they would be known sons Charles b. 1835 and Morris born 1840 ; Daniel b. 1809 that I can't locate in any census after 1820; Lucius b. 1810 who in 1840 had one son born 1835-1840 which would be his son George E. born 1838; Levi b. 1814 only 17 yrs old in 1831 and seems too young and Asa b. 1812 who died in 1891. Willard, Horace and Ira all too young. It would appear his father could be Daniel or Asa. Asa single in 1850 and living with married brother Josiah at age 35 [wrongly transcribed as 55]; in 1860 Asa is still single and lives with sister Saloma who is also single. Next door is married brother Horace and down the street is married brother Lucius.1870 have not found him yet 1880 Asa is living with his neice Emily [Mrs. John Taggart] and her son Charles in Topsham and listed as "Uncle"and single at age 67.

George married Judith George, daughter of James George and Lydia Jones. (Judith George was born in 1798 in South Hampton, New Hampshire, died in Sep 1859 in Jackson County, Wisconsin and was buried in Ox Bow Cemetery in Jackson County, Wisconsin.)
