OBITUARY Pendleton Keiler, 67, Marblehead banker
Pendleton Cooke Keiler of Marblehead, an investment banker, died Sunday at Shaughnessy-Kaplan Hospital in Salem after a lengthy illness. He was 67.
Born in Marion, Ohio, and raised in Providence, R.I., he had lived in Marblehead for 45 years. Mr. Keiler attended the Moses Brown School in Providence and Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut and graduated from Cranbrook School in Birmingham, Mich. A 1950 graduate of Amherst College, he was active in the college's alumni fund and was an associate class agent for many years.
Mr. Keiler was affiliated with the investment firm Moors and Cabot of Boston for several years.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Keiler was a member of Old North Church in Marblehead, where he was twice chairman of the Stewardship Committee. A longtime member of the Eastern Yacht Club, he had served on the Race Committee since 1960. He was also a member of the Coral Beach & Tennis Club in Bermuda, former treasurer of the Bond Club of Boston and a member of the Sons of Colonial Wars in Massachusetts. He was a former member of the Gut 'n Feathers Club in Marblehead and the Tennis and Racquet Club in Boston.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Straw); two sons, Mark Straw of Salem and Edmund Cooke of Durham, N.H.; a daughter, Virginia Keiler Bullard of Marblehead; a sister, Margaret Hanna-Robey of Annisquam; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Old North Church, Marblehead.
Arrangements are by Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, Marblehead.
