Kirby, James J. DELMAR James J. Kirby, 82, died Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Clancy) Kirby and a graduate of Vincentian Institute, class of 1941. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served on board the USS Bennington. Mr. Kirby worked for the New York Telephone Company for over 35 years. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Husband of 58 years of Elizabeth (Kosakowski) Kirby; father of Kevin and Michael Kirby, Susan (Robert) McDermott, Kathleen Kirby, Gregory (Donna) Kirby and the late Nancy Kirby; grandfather of Carolyn, Meredith, Melissa and James Kirby, Andrew and Ryan McDermott, Christopher, Brendan, Emily , Connor, Maggie and Molly Kirby; great-grandfather of Adam Kirby; brother of John (Marion) Kirby, Mary Adams and the late Elizabeth Hauprich and William Kirby; also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited. There will be no public calling hours.
