Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
James was born December 30, 1931, in Atchison County, MO, raised in Mound City, MO, and resided in Kansas City, KS his adult life. He was a carpenter for C&P Construction. James was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Fries, his father, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by five children Lynn & Robert Mills, Kansas City, KS, Betty & JD Beach, Kansas City, KS, Joyce & Roger Pressnell, Climax Springs, MO, Bud & Debbie Fries, Kansas City, KS, Tim & Lori Fries, Kansas City, KS, mother, Nell Fries Kirk, Oregon, MO, two brothers, Albert Fries, Edwin Fries, four sisters, Beverly Gilliand, Judy Dunn, Joyce Lueck, Suzie Nowling, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
