Spencer, Clarence J. COHOES Clarence J. Spencer, 88 died on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the Ann Lee Home in Colonie where he has been a resident for a year. Born September 18, 1916 in Watervliet, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ida Mae Zukowski Spencer. He was the widower of the former Rita O'Neill who died in 1964. Educated in Watervliet schools, Mr. Spencer joined the United States Army during World War II. He was honored with the American Service Medal, EAME Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 6, 1946 at the rank of sergeant. Mr. Spencer was employed by the Norton Company for over 25 years before his retirement in 1981. He was a life member of the VFW Post #729 in Watervliet and an avid reader. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Ethel Krause, John Spencer and Jessie Weeks. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 8:15 from Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and 9:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church where a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Interment with full military honors will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home on Tuesday 4-7 p.m. for visitation.
