Ruth Kelly was born to William Clarence Umble and Daisy Irene (DeBolt) Umble in a country home in Calhoun County, Iowa. Her parents and her sister, Dorothy, preceded her in death and a brother died in infancy.
On February 14, 1943, Ruth married Clarence F. "Red" Crosier who was killed in action on June 2, 1944. The Greeley Municipal Airport is named Crosier Field in his honor. Their son, William L. Crosier, resides in Greeley.
On November 27, 1947, Ruth married David P. Kelly who died October 14, 1984. They had two children, Robert D. (Pam) Kelly of Commerce City and Dee Ann K. (Phil) Hall of Centennial.
Mrs. Kelly received her BA degree from Iowa State University and later worked as a bookkeeper for Harry Hibbs (Hibbs Clothing Company), as a dental assistant for Dr. Tracy Fuerst, an accountant for the Greeley Medical Group, and for Weld County as the Assistant Personnel Director until her retirement in April, 1982.
Mrs. Kelly enjoyed family gatherings, concerts, plays, golf, bridge, sewing, cruising and traveling to elder hostels with her special companion, Al Torribio. She was an avid supporter and fan of the University of Colorado Buffaloes football and the Colorado Rockies.
The subdivision at 4th Street and 59th Avenue honors Ruth and her family as the "Kelly Farm" subdivision and soon to be developed "Crosier's Corner".
Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Union Colony Pioneer Society, JUGS, Excelsis (twice President), Red Hatters, and was a Scroll and Fan Honorary Member and a hostess at the Greeley Place.
Mrs. Kelly has eight grandchildren: Kevin, Kimberly, Jennifer, Chad, Jeff, Kelly, Chrissy and Becky; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Visitation 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. with services to being at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Reception in the Allnutt Reception Center. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery.

Ruth married David P. Kelly, son of William Robert Kelly and Carolin Ettella Smith, on 27 Nov 1947. (David P. Kelly was born on 7 Sep 1918, died on 17 Oct 1984 and was buried in Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, Weld County, Colorado.)
