Robert Herren, son of John and Harriett Wilds Herren, was born at Hall, England, April 10, 1824, and died July 27,1914, having passed the age of ninety years and being the last to survive of a family of seven children.
He came to America when fifteen years of age to make his home with his parents at Waterville, Vermont, where they had settled some years earlier and which was his home until 1869, when he came to Winterset.
He lived there seven years, operating the woolen mills of White, Munger & Co. In 1876 he moved to his farm in Grand River townships, which he operated till 1905, at which time he retired to his home in Macksburg.
He was first married on Oct. 25, 1845 to Harriet Strew. After her death, he was married to Sophia Hatch, who died in 1872. He was again married on Dec. 23, 1874 to Anna Parkins, who survives.
He was the father of 13 children, nine of whom are living, and were in attendance at the funeral, except one, who was not able to be present because of sickness.
There are also two stepchildren and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert married Annie Church on 23 Dec 1874. (Annie Church was born in 1843, died in 1923 and was buried in Winterset City Cemetery in Iowa.)
