Nyle W. Felling, age 66, of Marengo, died of Angio-Sarcoma on Friday, August 11, 2006 at Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg on Monday, August 14, 2006. The Rev. Morris Hurd will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery, Marengo, IA. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. In Lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial fund for the American Cancer Society. Nyle W. Felling was born on April 28, 1940, on the family farm south of Marengo, IA, the son of Lewis and Veda Jones Felling. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1958. Nyle was united in marriage to Dorothy (Dotty) Hartl Straw on August 16, 1969 at the Trinity United Church of Christ near Marengo. They farmed the family Century Farm. Nyle was the fourth generation family member to farm it. He and Dotty moved into Marengo in 1996, but his heart was with the farm. Nyle also worked 10 years as a salesman at Quad-County Implement in Blairstown, retiring on March 1st, 2006. He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, golfing at the Marengo Golf Course and was instrumental in the development of the Iowa Valley track & field and the Lion's Ball Park. He was a former Iowa Valley School Board member and had served as President of the board, a Iowa Valley Booster Club member, a charter member of the Lion's Club and a former member of the Marengo Jaycee's. He is survived by his wife Dotty of Marengo, IA; 2 sons: Daniel Straw and wife Suze of Milo, IA and Reo Straw of Indianola, IA; 4 grandchildren: Reonna Straw, Regina Straw, Samuel Straw and Daniel Nyle Straw. Also surviving is a brother Dwight Felling and his wife Anita of Marengo; nieces Denise, Ruth & Esther and a nephew Roger. Nyle was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Danita Straw.

Nyle married Dorothy Hartl, daughter of Edward Hartl and Dora, on 16 Aug 1969 in Marengo, Iowa. (Dorothy Hartl was born on 19 May 1935 in Marion, Crawford County, Ohio, died on 11 Aug 2018 in Marengo, Iowa and was buried in IOOF Cemetery - Marengo, Iowa.)
