March 19, 1919 -Dec. 18, 2008 GOSHEN - Esther L. Bailey, 89, of 1801 Greencroft Blvd., formerly of U. S.
33, died at 1:48 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 18, 2008) in Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born March 19, 1919, in Goshen to Orville and Ina (Vance) Pollock.
On Aug. 6, 1935, she married Wilbur Bailey. He died May 23, 1977.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Firestone of Syracuse; two sons, Kenneth (Ruth) Bailey of Elkhart and Phillip Bailey of Goshen; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two b rothers, Robert Po llock and Donald (Sandra) Pollock, both of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Bailey; one granddaughter, Cheryl; one great-grandson, Seth Bailey; two brothers, Albert and Orville Pollock; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Pollock, Betty Swihart and Helen Straw.
Mrs. Bailey was a homemaker and had worked at Kingberry Ordnance, Penn Electric and Fidler Sand & Gravel. With her husband, she established Bailey General Hauling in 1956, where she worked 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, The Window, Oaklawn Auxiliary, Bashor Home Auxiliary and Goshen Sister City Committee.
Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to Monday's 11 a.m. funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen.
Pastor Mike Tarner of St. Mark's will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery,.
