TICONDEROGA - Gertrude D. Ackerman, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy.
Born in Ticonderoga in 1915, she was the daughter of the late Alfairi DeRosia and Laura Adelaide Taylor DeRosia.
She graduated from Ticonderoga High School.
After leaving her native village in 1953, she lived in West Stockholm, Baldwinsville, and Schodack, N.Y. A gentle, somewhat shy but strong-willed person, she loved, in addition to her family and friends, her flower gardens, her cats, travel, Syracuse basketball, knitting, and the landscapes of Upstate New York and Maine.
She was predeceased in 1990 by her husband, Reginald O. Ackerman, by her brothers, Gilbert and Francis DeRosia, and by her sister-in-law, Alice Haith DeRosia.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Cemetery. She will be interred near her husband and her parents.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
Gertrude married Reginald O'Keefe Ackerman, son of John Clarence Ackerman and Elizabeth Anna O'Keefe. (Reginald O'Keefe Ackerman was born on 3 Feb 1909 in Port Elmsley, Canada, died on 15 Mar 1990 in Baldwinsville, New York and was buried in Valley View Cemetery in Ticonderoga, New York.)
