"The remains of Mrs A. W. Mears of St, Johnsbury were brought here Monday from Boston where she died as a result of a surgical operation Saturday night. Her death came as a shock to her many friends for her condition had not been supposed to have been critical although she had been poorly for sometime. Funeral services were held tuesday afternoon at the home of her sister Mrs Lucretia Bundy.Rev C. C. ST.Clare of the Congregational Church officiating. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery. Mrs Mears was 52 years of age, and a native of this town, her maiden name having been Effie Spaulding. She leaves a husband and one son Glenn, one brother A. W. Spaulding of this village, two sisters, Mrs Lucretia Bundy of this village and Mrs E. E. Foster of Providence, RI She leaves also a large circle of friends and acquaintances in this place where she resided during the greater part of her life. Among those from out of town who came to attend the funeral were her husband, son and sister Mrs E. E. Foster, Providence, who accompanied the remains, Merrill Mears, a nephew, and Mrs G. H. Spaulding and Mrs F. Spaulding of Johnsbury."
