Ruth received her nursing degree from General Hospital in Kansas City, where she met and married her husband, Dr. W.W. Buckingham, a thoracic surgeon. She reared her children in the Kansas City area, and was later nominated for Missouri Mother of the Year. She was an active member of the Elizabeth Benton chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Kansas City and the William White chapter in Mound City. She influenced the lives of all her children, relatives, and those who ever had the opportunity to have known this angel who was an angel from the day she was born.
Ruth married William Winants Buckingham.
