"Services were conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 12, in the Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home here for Mrs. Myrtle Fries Heck, 86, who died Saturday evening, Dec. 9, in the Northview Manor, Tarkio, where she had resided the past two years. The Rev. Clarence Smith officiated. Interment was in the New Liberty Cemetery.
Bob Fox, David Fries, Wallace Busch, Dean Heck, Audrey Heck, and Wayne Heck served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Heck, the daughter of Joseph and Christina Fox Fries, was born in Holt County, September 23, 1886. She spent her youth in the Pleasant View vicinity and was one of the oldest members of this church. She was also a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Mound City, Chapter 476, and received her 50 year pin from that organization in 1971.
On March 23, 1921, she was married to Marvin Heck. They made their home in Omaha, Nebraska, and in Mr. Heck's work as a refrigeration engineer; they traveled extensively. After his retirement they moved to Mound City and established their home here.
Her husband preceded her in death in January, 1965. She was also preceded by her parents and two brothers, Frank and George Fries.
Surviving are on sister, Mrs. Jim Bowness and one brother, Fred Fries, both of Mound City; several nieces and nephews."
