It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. James passed away at home on May 11, 2011, with his loving family by his side. Born in Clattice Harbour, Placentia Bay, July 21, 1924, James was the son of the late Lawrence and Annie (Viscount) Follett. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Parish. He was predeceased by brother John; daughter-in-law Jackie; brother-in-law Willie Ryan. James is survived by his loving wife Jennie (Ryan) of 57 years, his children: David, Barbara, Larry (Joanne), Judy (Jon), Janeth, Joan (Bill), Yvonne (John), Tommy (Penny), Dale (Annette), Sharon (Mike), Jerry (Linda). Grandchildren: DeAnna, Bradley, Kim, Cora, Lynette, Melissa, Angelina, Krista, Dana, Cindy, Eden, Grant, Tonda, Jarrodd, Bryden, Jennifer, Heather, Jillian, Genna Lee, Ryan, Ethan, Maggie, Gracie; as well as 9 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Snow (Clarence) and Cecily MacKeigan (Charles). Visitation will be Thursday, May 12 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Friday 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 10 p.m. at Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia. Mass of Christian burial will take place 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia. Interment to follow at the Father Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast Placentia. James was a hard-working, well respected and caring man who will be missed by all who knew him. He was employed with CNR (Marine Atlantic) for 37 years and a member of the Merchant Marines. Special thanks to Dr. Ross Penney, Dr. N. Belgasem and Dr. C. Caravan, the nursing staff at Placentia Hospital, Power's Ambulance Service and Jerry Whalen, his care worker.
