BERESFORD, Monica Theresa (nee Hickey) - Age 72 years of Freshwater, Placentia Bay, passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John`s on July 6, 2002. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Predeceased by her parents, Mary and James Hickey; brothers, Garrett, Jim (Lucy) and Leo; sisters, Lucy McCarthy and Bride Power. Leaving to mourn, her loving husband Michael (Mike); and children, Madonna, Peggy (Jim Reimer), Brenda (Frank Myrick), Michael (Sharon), Lucille (Stephen Pumphrey), Mary (Mahmood K. Gozar), Kenny (Hilda), Sheila (Arnold Pomeroy), Jeanette (Chris Griffiths), and Kimbery (Tommy Murphy); special grandchildren, Jennifer, Genna Lee, Stephen, Sarah, Melanie, Michael, Braeden and Daniel Paul; brothers, Adrian and Gerald Hickey; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hickey, Josephine Hickey, Imelda Hickey, Betty Hickey, Mary Turner and Kay Beresford; brothers-in-law, Bill Power and Thomas Turner. Included is a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Maher`s Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation Sunday, July 7 from 3-10 p.m. and Monday, July 8 from 2-10 p.m. and Tuesday, July 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, July 9 at 2 p.m at Holy Rosary Parish Church, Freshwater. Interment to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Freshwater. Special thanks to Dr. H. Ross Penney, Placentia and to all the medical staff at the Health Sciences Centre who treated and cared for Monica.

Monica married Michael Joseph Beresford, son of Philip Beresford and Margaret Hynes, on 16 Jul 1955 in Freshwater, Newfoundland. (Michael Joseph Beresford was born in 1924 in St. Brendan's Island, Newfoundland and died on 21 Jan 2015 in Chancellor Park, Newfoundland.)
