It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Patrick Hickey announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 1st, 2001 at the age of 68. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife of 47 years, Sylvia (nee McLellan), two daughters: Jo-Anne Griffin (Tony), and Laura Hickey (Glenn White), and one son Glenn, all residing in Corner Brook. Five precious grandchildren: Jason Hickey, Amanda and Angela Hickey, Jonathan and Jordan Griffin. Four sisters: Laura Chaffey (Roy), London, Ontario, Elizabeth Boyd (Ray), Margaret Hepditch (Leo), and Mona Fraser (Carl), all residing in Corner Brook; four brothers: Rhoady (Winnie), Ted (Verna), Jim (Yvonne), Corner Brook, and Ron (Joyce), Marystown, as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. He is predeceased by his parents: Joseph and Annie Hickey, brother Gerald and sisters Mary Batten and Kathleen. The family will be receiving friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Saturday and Sunday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5th at 10:30 a.m. from All Hallows Roman Catholic Church, Humber Road. Monsignor William Boone officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Receiving Chapel. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Mazol Temple, NF and Lab. Shriners.

Joseph married Sylvia Edith McLellan, daughter of Archibald McLellan and Eliza, in 1954. (Sylvia Edith McLellan was born in 1933 in Newfoundland, Canada, died on 19 Dec 2007 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and was buried in Mt. Patricia Cemetery - Corner Brook, Newfoundland.)
