Raymond Michael Keating
Married Nora Hynes, daughter of John hynes of Davis Cove, Placentia Bay, NFLD and Mary Brewer of Claddis Harbour, Placentia Bay
Raymond left Codroy Valley in April of 1937 and went to Deer Lake, NFLD to cut pulp wood for IP&P Company. In 1939 he went to Cox's Cove to cut pit prop for mines. In 1940 he taxied in Corner Brook for Kings Taxi. In 1941 he movedto Stephenville and worked as a contract truck driver for Metcalf Hamilton. Shortly after that he worked with Corps of Engineers as a clerk and then transfered to the Department of the Air Force as a Crash Firefighter. He quit then went to work with a contractor as Chief Time Keeper and Paymaster. Raymond worked as a priviate contractor in the sheet metal business from 1961 to 1964. He then worked as Parts Manager for Power Motors Limited from 1964 to 1971 He worked with Santa Maria Club in Stephenville as Club Manager from 1971 to 1974. Lastly he started his own truckingcompany called Rays Trucking Company, contracted with Newfoundland Government from 1974 to 1979, when he retired.
Raymond served as amember of Town Council of Stephenville from 1957 to 1961. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. In 1985 he wsa made an Honorary Life Member.
He and Nora lived at 47 St. Clare Avenue, Stephenville durning all their married life.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond M. Keating announce his passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing on Friday, October 12, 2001 at the age of 87 years. He will be sadly missed by one brother, Richard (Rita) Keating of Stephenville; two sisters: Margaret MacNeil of Nova Scotia, Moyia Kehller of Victoria, British Columbia; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Nora Keating on June 30, 1993 and his parents, James William and Mary Keating and three brothers: Hynes, Harold and Cyril Keating and three sisters: Mildred, Marion and Kathleen. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street, Stephenville on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, October 15th at 10:00 a.m. from Stephen's Parish, West Street, Stephenville with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to a charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated.
