Enlisted from Sanbornton, NH 14 May 1777. He re-enlisted 27 Jan 1778 for two years. Mentioned as Corporal 4 Jul 1780. Enlisted 29 Jul 1780. Enlisted 29 Jul 1782 for three years. He was withWashington at the surrender of Burgoyne and was afterward transferred to Sullivan's command. He was Private and Corporal.
Humphrey married Margaret White Moore, daughter of Capt Daniel Moore and Elizabeth White, on 28 Dec 1788. (Margaret White Moore was born on 17 Apr 1773 in Deerfield, Rockingham County, New Hampshire and died in 1859 in Mt. Morris, Livingston County, NY.)
