Hanmer, Mildred B.
CHESTERTOWN Mildred B. Hanmer, 103, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Fla. Born March 28, 1904, in Ludlow, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Rose (Bennett) Beswick. Mrs. Hanmer was a retired third-grade school teacher at Horicon Central School, Brant Lake and also taught in Lansing, Ill. She was a nurses aid in Madison, Wis. Mildred was a graduate of Albany State College. She was predeceased by her husband, John Hanmer, one daughter, Kathryn Ryan, two half brothers, George Starbuck, and Roger Burns, and one half sister, Alta Bean. Survivors include one son, Roger (Fern) Hanmer of O'Fallon, Mo., one daughter, Joan (Robert) Shields of Orange City, Fla., four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Pine St., Chestertown with the Rev. Rusty Bissell, pastor of Northway Community Fellowship Church, Chestertown, officiating. Interment will be at Schroon Lake Community Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, Oct. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
