research of <aryala@earthlink.net> on www.rootsweb.com - James may have originally been James O'Neal. He was a Captain and joined the army at Valley Forge. His brother was a Colonel in the British Army at the same time. Commissioned 12/19/1776. He was in the Virginia Battalion at White Plains in August 1778.
