David H Plank, 89 years old and one of Cass County's pioneer citizens, died Sunday, March 30, at the home of his grandson, Charles Greaser, in the Sycamore Grove Church neighborhood near Garden City and some ten miles southeast of Harrisonville. Mr Plank recently suffered a paralytic stroke which left him speechless but he was able to recognize and enjoy visits from his friends. He was born at Wooster, Ohio November 26, 1840 and in 1863 he married to Miss Leah King of Ligonier, Ind. One year later he moved to the State of Illinois and in the fall of 1883 he came with his family to Cass County. Mr and Mrs Plank were the parents of thirteen children, six daughters and seven sons. Three daughters died in infancy, his wife passed away in 1919. A son George died at Bound Brook, N. J. in 1917. He is survived by three daughters, six sons, thirty-nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. These children were present at the funeral service; W S Plank of Lawrence, Kans; Edward of Texas; William of Bloomington, Ill; James of Ottawa, Kans; Mrs Jacob F Kirscher, Mrs Greaser and Mrs Yoder of Cass County. In 1872 Mr Plank identified himself with the Church of the Brethren being baptized into this faith at Urbana, Ill. He was consistent member of this denomination until his death. Funeral services were held at the Sycamore Grove Church on Tuesday morning April 1 at 11 o'clock, being conducted by Elder Lentz of Leenon, Mo who was assisted by Rev H G Hartzler, pastor of the church, and by Rev George C Monroe, Harrisonville Baptist minister. Burial was in Clearfork Cemetery.

PLANK. ­ David C. (sic) Plank was born at Wooster, Ohio, Nov. 26, 1840; died at Garden City, Mo., March 30, 1930; aged 89 y. 4 m. 4 d. In 1863 he was married to Leah King of Ligonier, Ind. One year later he moved to Illinois and in the fall of 1883 he came with his family to Cass Co., Mo. To this union were born 6 daughters and 7 sons. Three daughters died in 1919; also one son (George) died in 1917. He leaves 3 daughters, 6 sons, 39 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. In 1872 he united with the Church of the Brethren, remaining a consistent member until his death. Funeral services were held at the Sycamore Church in charge of C. A. Lentz of Leeton, Mo. Interment in the Clearfork cemetery.
