Per research of Caroline Kennedy (his great grand daughter) - "He came to America from County Cork, Ireland, probably landed at either Pensicola, Florida or Mobile, Alabama, about 1843. He practiced Law. The courthouse in Sparta, AL burned after the Civil War. Thomas and his wife had a plantation with fifty slaves. After he died she ran a hotel I believe in Sparta. About 1870 she moved to Kirksville with Katherine, Francis, Thomas (an invalid), John and Mary. Before that I believe three of the children had died."
Thomas married Sarah B. Mason. (Sarah B. Mason was born on 23 Jun 1825 in Old Town, Alabama, died on 15 Aug 1884 and was buried in Forrest-Llewellyn Cemetery, Adair County, Missouri.)
