Ruth Thornton Godbey Ms. Godbey, 82, of Charlotte, entered into the Church Triumphant on November 25, 2011. Mrs. Godbey was born May 24, 1929 in Charlotte to the late Harry Edwin and Evvie Viola Thornton Straw. She is also preceded in death by her brother, William C. Albro, Sr. and sister, Ann Straw Ingle. Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior. The family will have a private inurnment at Elmwood Cemetery. She was a life-long member of the Order of Eastern Star and Amarath, holding many local and state offices. Also, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of Kilborne Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Grady Stogner, Steven Stogner (Kay), and Nelson Godbey (Amanda); grandchildren, Melanie Sellers (Chip), Brittany Stogner, Jennifer Stogner, Noah Godbey (Tina), Chelsea Godbey, and Sarah Ruth Godbey; great-grandchildren, Jacob Sellers and William Godbey; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
