FRANKLIN - Rita Adelle (Chandonnait) Jones, 86, a resident of Genesis-Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin, died there Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, following a period of failing health.
She was born in Laconia, April 21, 1924, daughter of Delphis and Adelle (Picard) Chandonnait.
Rita lived in Franklin for many years. She worked for many years as a machinist at the former J.P. Stevens Woolen Mill, Griffin Hacksaw and Stanley Tool in Franklin.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and a parishioner of St. Paul Church in Franklin.
Rita was predeceased by her daughter, Rosemarie Gauthier. Rita's husband, Colin S. Jones Jr., died May 8, 2010.
Her family includes her son, Bernard R. Straw, and his wife, Marie, of Tilton; stepdaughter Laurie Hart of Virginia; grand- and great-grandchildren; her sister, Amelia LaBraney of Franklin; and nieces and nephews.
Eastern Star committal services will be on Friday, March 4, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at the State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Interment with her husband will follow.
Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton.
