T. Walden notes: " Kautten or Kauten, East Prussia: Finding the current location of Kautten is a work in progress. Formerly in East Prussia and now it is in Russia. Near the river Biss which is also renamed evidently. South of Bisserkeim or Gumbinnen (old Prussian names of the town) now called Gusev. It was east of Darkehmen now called Ozersk . These towns are currently in the Kaliningrad Oblast region of Russia . Kautten would be about 6 to 8 kilometers north of the Polish border. "
