Robert (Butch) Straw, 60, Grangeville: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Lewiston Morning Tribune (ID) - September 1, 2002 Deceased Name: Robert (Butch) Straw, 60, Grangeville Robert (Butch) Straw, 60, of Grangeville died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Syringa General Hospital in Grange-ville. He was born Feb. 22, 1942, at White Bird, a son of Robert and Fern Hardin Straw. He attended schools at Clearwater Valley and Grangeville, graduating from Grangeville High School in 1961. After his graduation he worked as a planer at the Ida-pine Mill in Grangeville. He married Kathy Paul Feb. 8, 1964, at Grangeville. They moved to Orofino, where Butch worked on Dworshak Dam and the fish hatchery. They moved back to Grangeville in 1972, and he worked for Huston Brothers plumbing before returning to the mill. A heart attack in 1992 forced his retirement. He was a 15-year member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Eagles where he was vice president and served on the board of trustees. He also was a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for local children, hunting, fishing and making firewood. His most precious time was spent with his grandchildren being the best grandpa anyone could wish for. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, at the family home; his son, Ken and wife, Lisa, of St. Maries; his daughter, Leah and husband, Bob Mager, of Grangeville; his grandchildren, Jackie, Rachel, Alycia and Nathan; a brother, Tim Straw of Clarkston; a sister, Audrey and husband, Adrian Perrine, of Mountain Home; and a sister-in-law, Marie Straw, also of Mountain Home. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill; a sister, Rosann; and his parents. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Syringa General Hospital.
