Vivian N. Easter March 7, 1921 - February 6, 2009 Vivian retired from her many volunteer pursuits after a brief illness while listening to some of her favorite classical music selections. She is now pursuing her "PHD" (Post Humus Doctorate), actively contributing to our knowledge for many more decades at the Body Farm, University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is survived by the cats she rescued or that adopted her, her beloved insects and other arthropods at the Insect Zoo, and the many hearts she touched while sharing her love of all things in the "Natural" World, whether it was on the phone helping those of us challenged by miscreant cat behaviour (SPCA volunteer cat behaviourist), or as a docent at the San Francisco Zoo, Academy of Sciences, Randall Museum, or at an exhibit in the Presidio. Vivian definitely marched to her own drummer and possessed a vital interest in a variety of subjects. She loved the opera, Japanese cooking, art, all animals, trees and flowers and what made things "tick". Vivian was into whatever she did - she would never think of doing anything but a perfect job whether it was explaining why bugs bite or the meaning of a cat's meow. She loved to learn and did so her ENTIRE life. Her sense of humor was always such a part of her and she appreciated humor in others. Vivian was a California native born in Hollywood, earning a degree from UC Berkeley in drama with a minor in French and worked for more than 30 years at the UCSF library. In April of 1969 she married Robert Quinn Easter and moved to San Francisco. You may honor our special friend by visiting a natural history museum, a zoo or an aquarium. Those who wish to make contributions in her name are encouraged to make contributions to the San Francisco Insect Zoo.
