(Straw) Childs, born in Moretown, Vermont, 28 Feb 1840, in Fall of 1855 removed with parents to Omro, winnebago county, wisconsin; worked on farm til 21; d\\educated in Omro district and high schools; taught four terms, first term pupils ranging from four to 25 years, and so turbulent that school had not been taught entirely through either of four preceding terms; in Spring of 1804 began study of medicine(honi(ropathy)inOshkosh, Wis.; February, 1805, enlisted for one year in Company D, 49th Wis. V. I.; mustered out November 1, 1805; then entering Cleveland Homeopathic Medical College, graduating therefrom in Spring of 1807; at once opening' an office in Akron, where he has built up a large and lucrative practice. Dr. Childs is a member of the Summit County Clinical Society and the N. E. O. Homteopathic Medical Society, in both of which he has served as president; member and ex-vice president Ohio State Hoimeopathic Medical Society; member of American Institute of Homoeopathy; member of Railway Surgeons' Association; trustee of Cleveland Medical College; has served as professor of anatomy in Women's Homoeopathic Medical College, Cleveland, his entire aspirations and energies having been given to the successful establishment of the homoeopathic principle of medicine, Dr. Childs was also an original member of the Akron Y. M. C. A., and two years its president.
Orrin married Lillian Robertson, daughter of Unknown and Unknown, in 1890 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Lillian Robertson was born on 1 Feb 1856 in Cold Springs, Kentucky and died in Aug 1952 in Lakeland, Florida.)
