Mr. C. H. Dore, father of H. W. Dore, agent for the Missouri Pacific at Smithton, died at the home of his son at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, of general debility. Deceased was born in New Hampshire in December, 1818.He was clerk of Cass county, Mo., at the time the famous railroad bonds were issued, but for some time past had lived with his son at Smithton. The interment took place there Monday afternoon. - Sedalia Democrat - Monday, September 19, 1898 pg.5

Charles Dore is a native of Belknap County, New Hampshire, and was born December 29, 1818. In 1841, he removed to Boston, Massachusetts, residing for three years, going then to Natick. One year later, in December, 1844, he emigrated to Buenos Ayres, South America, where he resided three and one-half years.
In November, 1848, he returned to the United States and settled in Belknap county. In 1854, he removed to Maine, and located in the town of York, where he lived one year, then to Iowa, in Chickasaw County. In 1860 he was elected county judge of that county, serving one year, and in 1858, he was elected justice of the peace for two years.
Mr. Dore was married January 26, 1850 to Miss Lydia A. Straw, a native of New Hampshire. They have one child living, Henry W. - History of Cass & Bates Counties - 1883 p445
