bullet  General Notes:

KindredKonnection on the internet states John was born in Weare, NH and married Betsey Howe

At first I thought her to be the d/o Eli How/Howe/Howes [married to Polly Oaks] who was living in Henniker 1800-1820 with HH of females born c1790-95 in 1800-1810 [Betsey married in 1813] No How/Howe/Howes in Henniker in 1830 but census of HH in 1800 indicates 2 daughters who would be Sally Howe b. 1783 and Mary Oaks Howe born 1793 and neither girl married until 1805 and 1826 respectively.
also..Eli and Polly had a son born Sept 1791 so a daughter born Jan 1791 does not seem probable.
Other Howe families in 1800 Henniker include Nathaniel Howe [b. 1780]; Aaron; Ebenezer; Levi and Micah Howe...of these only Micah has a daughter in his HH in 1810 that would fit the profile of Bestsey. but in 1820 this dau is still in his HH and Betsey is now married. and living in Acworth, NH

Found a son of Eli and Polly with a g3 grandson (P. Sternberg) who has a DNA match [20cM across 1 segments] with Jane O'Connor Foster also DNA matches with Peter Howe

28 May 1947 - John Franklin Moore related to his daughter Mary Moore O'Connor the following: "..[his]grandfather's name was John [Moore] and his wife's name was Betsey Ann and he was convinced that she was an Agard from Pottersville. [this is obviously incorrect.] There were five children Horace [his father] Madison and Albert ["the two who went West"] Julia Pond and John Moore...they were brought up in Madison, Wisconsin and then to Gardner or Holyoke, Mass thence to Crown Point. [I insert this only as "family lore" for his daughter wrote it down on a peice of paper she kept and it is not substantiated or documented in any way. The names of the children are correct. It is interesting to note that one of the children was named Madison..could this be because of a familiar locale to the family? It does not appear James Madison Moore ever left the Northeast]
I have also found a James Madison Howe (born 1806) that might be a relative of Betsey but I (Jane O'Connor Foster)can't Find any DNA matches with anyone researching that person

Misc
History of Henniker, NH - pg 380
"John Moore...formerly a resident of this town" [ he and Betsey married 1813 in Henniker]

Betsey named her first son James Madison Moore. John Howe and Lydia Lewis named their son James Madison Howe born 1806 in Brownfield, Oxford, Maine. they had lived in Henniker when their first son was born in 1787 and moved eventually to Maine. The name Madison appears in the children's lineup for Peter Howe/Mary Colby. Peter is an apparent brother of Betsey and this is backed up by DNA

Jane O'Connor Foster has multiple DNA matches for Lydia Whitman's lines and based on this I will assign William Howe/Lydia Whitman as Betsey's parents until I find documentation to indicate otherwise.
