WATERBURY '97 Paul Victor Parkosewich, 92, of Waterbury, died Tuesday, March 18, at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the widow of Ruth M. (Straw) Parkosewich.
Mr. Parkosewich was born November 23, 1921, in Oneonta, N.Y., the son of Steven and Julia (Bednarz) Parkosewich, and lived in Waterbury since 1928. He was educated in Waterbury schools. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he worked as a dental technician at Waterbury Dental Labs. Mr. Parkosewich proudly served his country as a combat veteran in the 319th Bombardment Group in the 3rd U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a Bombardier Navigator aboard a B-26 Martin Marauder which was known as "Skeeter." He was a communicant of Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Watertown.
Mr. Parkosewich is survived by two sons, Paul R. Parkosewich and his wife, Kathleen, of Booneville, N.Y., and Gary T. Parkosewich and his wife, Pamela, of Old Saybrook; two daughters, Janet Parkosewich of North Haven, and Ellen Kurdzo and her husband, Michael, of Andover; a brother, Walter Parkosewich of Pittsburgh, Pa.; five grandchildren, Paul M. Parkosewich of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Amy Thayer and her husband, Luke, of Watertown, Gary D. Parkosewich of Old Saybrook, Charles Parkosewich and his fiancée, Amela Seho of Utica, N.Y., and Steven Parkosewich and his wife, Jenna, of Rome, N.Y.; a great-granddaughter, Eliza Thayer; two stepgrandchildren, Shannon Ciccone, and Dan Mayer and his wife, Vicky; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Shadow. He was predeceased by a brother, Victor Parkosewich; and two half-brothers, Francis Boniecki and Thomas Boniecki.
A funeral was held Tuesday, March 25, from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, to St. Mary Magdalen Church to celebrate a mass of Christian Burial. Rites of committal with military honors followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
