Matthew L. Jones, 45, of Rathdrum, passed away July 4, 2013, in Liberty Lake, Wash. He was born Feb. 21, 1968, in Spokane to Roderick and Chris Jones. Matthew graduated from Roger's High School in Spokane. He served in the U.S. Army, was stationed in Giessen, Germany, and served in Desert Storm and was awarded two bronze stars. Matthew was a longtime resident of Rathdrum. During a blizzard on Dec. 31, 1992, he married Stephanie Straw in Post Falls. He was a family man that enjoyed riding his motorcycle and restoring old Volkswagens. He had a love for athletics, especially soccer.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Stephanie at home; son Tyler Jones of Rathdrum; daughter and son in-law, Blythe Jones and Corey Kunde of Rathdrum; and a grandson, Forrest Matthew Merle Kunde. Matthew is also survived by his father, Roderick and Marsha of Bremerton, Wash.; and mother Chris and Jeff Johnson of Deer Park, Wash.; and brothers, Kelly Jones of Spokane and Shaun Jones of Gig Harbor, Wash.; also his mother and father-inlaw, Ron and Shelly Straw of Rathdrum. There are also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, with memorial services at 11 a.m. at Real Life Ministries, 1866 N.
