WILLIAM BAYLEY (1820-1894) was a successful farmer, and a man universally respected. When the town clock was bought, he gave generously for it, and he was interested in anything that would benefit the town. He served on the board of assessors for several years.
Mr. Bayley married Laura Felch, daughter of the Rev. Cheever and Mary Hale Felch of Rutland, Vt. Mrs. Bayley died in 1911 in New York where she was living with her granddaughter, Ellen.
The children in the Bayley family were Annie (Mrs. George Riley), William P. (married Minnie Stearns), Mary (Mrs. William H. Cheney,) their two daughters, Laura and Florence are well remembered as they attended school in Massena; Fred, who married, first, Irene Catley whose children were Ellen, Ralph and Will; and second, Anna Dunbar whose children are Harold, Charles, John, Mary and Martha. Fred Bayley lived on the home place where his widow still lives.
